The Furry Boys
Chuck and Bruce are getting along quite well. Almost like adding Bruce to our family has given Chuck a new lease on life.We do however have to monitor Bruce closely because he is like an energizer bunny... keeps going and going and going... The old guy (Chuck) just can't keep up so we have to slow down the pace...

Chuck is suffering with arthritis however we are still able to manage his pain. He is always such a happy boy ..

December 2010 - Christmas
December has been very interesting as it relates to weather. We have had a lot of rain and some major wind.
Spent a very quiet but nice Christmas at home this year ... just hubby, dogs, birds and myself! Saving as much time as possible so that I can go home in March 2011 when my first GrandChild is born ... so didn't go anywhere for Christmas ...
No snow on Christmas day but we were dumped on Boxing Day .. LOL

Perky -- Gotcha Day

It is amazing to think that it was 5 years ago today that Perk came into our lives. We have had our ups and downs and a few scars along the way ... but he was worth every single one ...
He is quite a character and a real chatterbox. I always knew there was a gentle grey behind that lunge. LOL
I couldn't imagine our home without him ... I'm sure it would be much quieter ... but who needs quiet?
Happy Gotcha Day Perk!

Bruce - 1 Year Old
Bruce's first birthday! Our little bully is now a year old! He really is a good boy and although our puppy is very challenging he has really come a long way since puppyhood...We have always been use to working with Chuck who was just so easy to train. Bruce on the other hand although as intelligent as Chuck is very stubborn and is constantly vying for dominance.
I think I have met my match!
Happy Birthday My Little Man!

Scrapbooking -- Beginnings
I am a newbie scrapper but hooked none the less! This blog will be used to document my experiences as I learn the scrapping techniques and tools.
I have recently started my first project which is a wedding album for my son and daughter in law ... Will be uploaded images of some of my layouts ..
My layouts are pretty simply but seem to be getting better as I go ... Well at least I think so..

Bruce
Bruce was born on October 23, 2009 and came to us on January 2010.
Bruce is an olde english bulldogge and our researched told us we would be in for a challenge!
Now how can a beautiful puppy like that be challenging? Well he is a bully after all!
As there isn't a lot of information available on the Olde English Bulldogge I have created a website and blog for Olde English Bulldogges ...
You can follow it here --> Olde English Bulldogges - Bruce

Chuck - Our Main Man
He is also a Daddy's boy and follows Ian everywhere he goes..
He is such a gentle soul and a very smart boy! He excelled in obedience and thrives on pleasing us!
Chuck suffered an injury in 2004 and we are now starting to see the affects of arthritis ... We are able to manage his pain but find it heartbreaking to see him struggle.
He is however aging gracefully isn't he ... those grey hairs make him look even wiser then his years!

An African Grey
We quickly realized that although we were up to the challenge we really needed help with Perk our african grey. We also understood that the help and guidance we needed could only come from those who had experience with african greys.
With all the research I had done I wasn't able to find a website/forum specifically for african greys that I liked. So I decided if I built it .. they would come! LOL
An African Grey debut was today and I can only hope that we become a valuable resource to others. In doing so Perky will benefit from what I am able to learn!

Perk's Progress
In the past, he has had very little out of cage time -- He is now not only coming out with just learning step up ... but he plays with foot toys and his hanging toys on top of his cage ...
He was never clipped and can't seem to fly .. so we are very careful with his out of cage time. He panics and flies around erratically so we are having a hard time working with him. I think we will need to clip him or we won't be able to work with him. He is lunging and biting and isn't trusting us and flies off ..
We have to buy a carrier to get him to the vet to have him clipped .. hopefully next week. We don't want to traumatize him so we will see how he is doing.
He was eating a mixture of sunflower seeds, peanuts and a bunch of other seeds .... Can you believe he is eating Hagen Lifetime Pellets for Parrots ... and tropimix! He loves it ... just tonight he kept his head in the bowl for 10 minutes!
I am so impressed with this birds progress ... he is so perceptive to all physical changes ... but still lunges and bites!
I know .. one day at a time!

Perky - CAG
Today was a big day in our lives ... we adopted a Congo African Grey Parrot named Perky.
Perky is 22 years old and has had the same owner for 20 of his 22 years. We had thought this would be a difficult adjustment for him and we were not only prepared for the challenge but intended to make the adjustment as easy as possible for him.
We also have a quaker parrot named Sméagol and kept Perky under quarantine for about three weeks. We felt this was a good approach for health reasons but also allowed Perky to adjust to his new surroundings and people before introducing him to King Sméagol.
His first day was better then I expected. He seemed a little cautious but not nervous. He was eating and drinking and had about 5 minutes out of cage time. So we were pleased and felt we were off to a great start.
I was thinking this evening that our lives have forever changed ... but that's a good thing!

Sméagol's First Outdoor Adventure
Yesterday, I took Sméagol outside on the deck just to sit and enjoy the beautiful day. This was his first time outside other then coming home and going to the vet back in November 2004.
I put him in his Adventure Pack, got Chuck a bone, myself a drink and a book and we sat outside for about an hour!
He was such a good boy. Just played, ate and drank. I also noticed him listening to the birds.
Fun was had by all!

Sméagol's Christmas
Well Santa was really good to Sméagol ... must be because he is such a good boy!
Sméagol got a bunch of new toys and two pinatas ...
He hasn't really noticed his pinata .. or he is just ignoring it!
He is getting more and more cuddly everyday! I am really surprised, I would have never thought a bird would be a cuddler .. happy but surprised!

We aren't really sure if our little man is bathing or swimming ... but he sure looks like he is having fun!
Either way he sure is cute!

Sleepy Hut vs Moi
Well ... Our Little Man Sméagol decided that he preferred being in his cage then coming out to play with Mom ..
Not sure if he didn't want to come out because he really likes his Sleepy Hut .. and will eventually get over the excitement or if he is ticked because hubby changed around all of his toys yesterday!
In any case, we aren't worried about it .. he comes to the perch at the door to get his treats and be petted .. so he is happy .. just doesn't want to come out to play!
We are pleased with his progress and he is settling in quite well ..
